Sent on Leave is used when a patient is allowed home during a long care spell but will return in a day or so e.g. the patient leaves on Friday but will return on Sunday.

• Left click on the patient and select Discharge.
• Confirm the identity of the patient.
• The Method of Discharge will default to ‘On medical advice’. Click on the drop down arrow and select Sent on leave.
• Destination on discharge is not a mandatory field, however if the destination is known, click on the drop down arrow and select the appropriate option
• Click OK to confirm the action.

Returning the patient from leave can only be completed in the PAS system.
