There are five types of Booked Elective Admissions, each being a separate category according to the Department of Health definitions. These lists are:
Booked Elective Admissions . Patients admitted from this list are those requiring operative intervention, but who are not given a date for admission when added to the list.
Booked List . Patients admitted as booked are those given a date for admission at the time the decision to admit was made.
Planned List . Patients admitted from this list as part of a planned sequence of clinical care. The date for admission is made largely on clinical grounds, especially the time required to respond to previous treatment. e g . check cystoscopies and endoscopies fall into this category.
